House of Choice is a research project that explores the alternative options of spatial arrangement within a 150 sqft unit inside a youth hostel. Instead of designing several standardised spatial units, we look at the possibilities of offering modular spatial components for each unit, so its owner can create his preferred lifestyle freely through mixing and matching.
In our research report, we first categorised the targeted young end-users based on occupation, lifestyle habits and needs. Based on these pre-designated characters, we have created several modular combinations of spatial solutions to offer maximum flexibility and freedom for the young dwellers to choose their ways of living. We hope this research offers a glimpse of light to the common problem of spatial scarcity in Hong Kong.
